Les Hosking, ceo of Axiss Australia, a government financial markets promotions body, will become ceo of National Electricity Market Management Co (Nemmco) in July. Hosking headed Sydney Futures Exchange from 1985-2000. He has been a director of Nemmco since its inception in 1996. The entity has responsibility for the administration and operation of the wholesale national electricity market in Australia. One of his key objectives will be to develop the country's energy markets, including electricity derivatives. SFE and ASX both offer competing electricity futures. Average daily volume is 15 lots at SFE, five at ASX and 37 (futures equivalent) lots in the OTC electricity swap market.
