Trading volumes for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and its e-trading platform, Globex, hit new levels on 17 March. CME achieved over 4.2m contracts marking the second highest total volume day (excluding days that employed special opening procedures for its non-tradition TRAKRS); while Globex's highest volume day in CME history was marked with a total 1,592,150 contracts. Another highpoint was the first day E-mini S&P 500 futures exceeded one million contracts in a single day, along with record e-mini Nasdaq-100 futures and electronic exchange trading.

Eurex's new total turnover surpassed its previous record by over one million contracts when seven million contracts traded on a single day for the first time on 14 March. Another record was set in futures on Bobl in just over six months with a new turnover of 1,319,784 contracts.
