Brian Williamson is to step down as chairman of the Liffe Board on 1 July, after five years in the post, but will continue as a member of the Euronext supervisory board. The change brings his position into line with Dutch company law, under which membership of a company supervisory board is normally considered to be incompatible with the chairmanship of a subsidiary board. Williamson was appointed to the supervisory board of Euronext in April 2002, and a special interim exception was made, allowing him to remain chairman of Liffe for a period and facilitate the process of integrating Liffe into Euronext.
