Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT)'s Fed Funds options contract, launched last month, reached an open interest benchmark with 100,785 contracts held on 17 April, surpassing the previous record of 98,275 contracts set 16 April, 2003. Fed Funds options also set a volume record on 22 April with 22,385 contracts traded, surpassing the previous record of 19,122 set on 11 April. The exchange also announced a number of enhancements to the contract: beginning 21 April, including a two-tiered strike price system and provision for cabinet trading.
Eurex continued to ramp up its French equity options coverage last week with the introduction of options on STMicroelectronics. According to the exchange, this brings the number of available options on constituents of the CAC-40 index to 40. Eurex said it was gaining market share in the segment, capturing 5.5% of nominal value.
