Electronically traded euro currency futures traded on Chicago Mercantile Exchange's (CME) Globex trading platform reached a record 53,443 contracts on 21 August. The underlying value of that volume was $7.3 billion. The previous volume record was 42,803 contracts on 5 June, 2003, representing an underlying value of $6.4bn.
New York Board of Trade said that, effective with the move to the new trading facility on 2 September, trading hours for the Coffee "C" futures and options contracts shall be from 9.15am to 12.30pm, and trading hours for the Reuters CRB index futures and options contracts shall be from 10.00am to 2.30pm. The amended hours mean that trading hours in the Reuters CRB contracts will no longer be extended on the last day of trading for the expiring contract month.
