Eurex's volume of 69.9m contracts in August has brought its total year-to-date to 682m contracts, up 32% on 2002. While the exchange's fixed income products remain the highest-volume sector - with the Euro Bund alone trading a total of 16.2m contracts - equitybased derivatives continued to grow on Eurex. A total of nearly 32m contracts was traded: 16.3m in equity index products and 15.6m in equity options. Turnover in index contracts rose 36% year-on-year, the leading contract in the sector being the DJ Euro Stoxx 50 index future, with 6.4m contracts traded.
