October volumes round-up


Eurex traded more than 93m contracts in October, up from 86.5m in the same period last year, bringing the exchange's year-to-date volume to 874m, up 28% on 2002.

During the month, a total of 52.8m contracts were traded and cleared in the exchange's fixed income products - the Euro Bund future accounting for 21.8m contracts (up 6% on last year), Euro Bobl future at 13.4m contracts (up 11% on last year) and Euro Schatz future at 12.7m contracts (level with October 2002).

A 28.5% increase in equity index derivatives, to 22.8m contracts, led to a total of 40.2m contracts traded in equity-based derivatives in October. Individual equity options accounted for 17.4m contracts. The...
