Global OTC growth rates eclipsed by exchanges

Global over-the-counter markets grew 20% in the first half of 2003, compared to the second half of 2002, according to the latest figures from Bank for International Settlements. The total estimated notional amount of outstanding OTC contracts stood at $169.7tr at the end of June 2003, up 20% on end-December 2002.
