Eurex is close to finalising a deal to with BrokerTec Futures Exchange (BTEx) that would see BTEx rolled into Eurex's nascent US exchange in time for a February launch.
On-going negotiations between Eurex and the major banks that own BTEx were at an advanced stage last week, according to a senior source close to the deal. An agreement is expected to be announced in January at the latest.
Full details of the deal have not been finalised, but it is believed that BTEx will be incorporated into Eurex US, with the existing shareholders in BTEx receiving equity in Eurex US.
