Icap has hired Andrew Berry and Ian Johnson as directors of its futures operation, to explore the future direction of the firm's futures clearing operation. Icap recently announced plans to expand its exchange traded futures division (see FO Week vol 9 no 5) and, according to futures head Humphrey Percy, the hires represent part of this process. Percy told FO Week that while discussions were ongoing, the firm was considering the possibility of establishing its own global clearing business. Both Berry and Johnson join from Bawag Refco, the clearing operation jointly established by Refco and Austrian bank Bawag.
