New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) copper options set a monthly volume record of 31,560 contracts in February, exceeding the record of 30,251 contracts traded in November 1996.

Nymex also said it would launch options on its PJM monthly electricity futures contract on 5 March. The options contract will be available for trading for consecutive months beginning with the May 2004 contract through the December 2006 contract.
