Johnston resigns, CME reshuffles tech department


Scott Johnston has resigned from his post as Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) chief information officer. The move follows the departure of Satish Nandapurkar to Eurex US and comes as CME attempts to prevent an exodus of key staff with promotions and the introduction of non-competition clauses into stock option and bonus schemes (see FO Week Vol 9 Nos 3&7). Johnston was part of the team brought in by former ceo Jim McNulty. Both Johnston and the exchange insisted the departure was amicable.

In an exclusive interview, Johnston told FO Week that, having built a strong technology team, he had achieved his goals and "it was a good time to leave".

Johnston said it was his choice and he now wants to explore other opportunities, although no decision...
