The next head of Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is expected to be one of the two existing commissioners, sources told FO Week.
Many in Washington widely expect either Walt Lukken or Sharon Brown-Hruska to be named as acting chairman of the agency in the coming days or weeks. Both commissioners are said to be interested in taking the post. Neither returned calls seeking comment. Former chairman Jim Newsome, was expected to wrap up his exit from the commission at the end of last week (23 July), ahead of taking up the presidency of New York Mercantile Exchange in August.
