Eurex path unclear as Seifert departs Börse


The departure of CEO Werner Seifert and chairman of the supervisory board Rolf Breuer, along with three unnamed board members, from Deutsche Börse last week has led to speculation about the future status of Eurex.

Several of Deutsche Börse's major shareholders had been unhappy with the way Breuer and Seifert had handled the exchange's attempt to buy London Stock Exchange (LSE), forcing the bid to be dropped on 6 March and the two men to resign on 9 May.

As a result of the departures, there has been renewed talk of a tie-up between Deutsche Börse and European rival exchange...
