PHLX bid to block ISE thwarted


An attempt by Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) to block the launch of gold index options by International Securities Exchange (ISE) was  last week rejected by Southern New York District Court.

PHLX had claimed that ISE's gold index was "a copycat index that mimics almost exactly the PHLX gold/silver index," which is also known by its symbol XAU.

Following the court's ruling, PHLX issued a statement saying it was "disappointed and intended to pursue this further,"...
