SGX to develop OTC clearing for commodity derivatives


Singapore Exchange (SGX) announced plans to develop a clearing facility for OTC commodity derivatives, initially in energy derivatives and forward freight agreements (FFA), by the first quarter of next year.

Hsieh Fu Hua, CEO of SGX, said in a statement that the facility will leverage the exchange's clearing infrastructure and strengthen the OTC marketplace by mitigating counterparty risks.
