Long bond back in business


The US's Treasury Department confirmed on 3 August that it would resume the sales of 30-year bonds in February 2006. The move was largely expected and welcomed by firms and exchanges.

Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT) and the investment community have been lobbying in Washington to reconsider the 2001 decision to stop issuing 30-year bonds for some time. Since then, futures on the ten-year note have become the most actively traded contract on CBoT.
