Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT) has announced average daily trading volumes of 2.3m contracts in July, up 12.9% from the same period last year and up 20.4% year-to-date. Total volume in July reached 46.6m contracts, up 7.5% year-on-year. Open interest at the exchange rose 10.7% on the same period last year, with CBoT 30-day fed funds options and wheat futures open interest rising to record highs on 29 July, of 1.1m and 252,672 contracts respectively. CBoT 100oz gold futures also set a new volume record of 4,224 contracts on 27 July.
Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has revealed average daily trading volumes for July of 3.7m contracts, up 15% year-on-year, with average daily volume on its Globex electronic trading platform averaging 2.5m. Total monthly volume was more than 73m contracts.
