Of course, that didn't stop us gentlemen of the press - amongst others, it must be said - speculating wildly on who had thrown their hat in the ring. Reports confidently stated that the bidder was definitely, 100%, absolutely CME, seemingly based on the assumption that, well, that it just had to be, didn't it?
