Plausible deniabilityI like to consider myself something of an expert in the art of denying things, even if they 'just happen' to be entirely true. For example, just a few weeks back I was accused by a rather irritable chap of being in a certain hotel room with a companion who he expected to be in his company at the time. Using one of my trademarked diversionary anecdotes I soon managed to convince him that he did not have his facts straight, despite the fact that I later discovered a room service receipt and a pilfered shower cap poking out of the pocket of my slacks. Anyway, one lesson I have learned is that there is no point denying something until one has been accused of it - I recall a rather embarrassing incident where I was half-way through a convoluted explanation to my then wife involving a last minute...
