Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT) has expanded trading on its electronic trading platform by one hour to 22 hours a day in response to "global demand". Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX), which uses CBoT's Liffe Connect trading platform on licence, has also expanded the trading hours for its electronically traded futures and options contracts by one hour.

New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) has lifted the "force majeure" condition for both September and October 2005 natural gas futures contract delivery obligations.  All participants who had outstanding obligations for these delivery months needed to commence nomination procedures in conformance with prescribed practices of Sabine, Gulf South, and Columbia Gulf. Any remaining September and October natural gas obligations were to commence and complete ratable delivery in the calendar month of October 2005.

Nymex has revealed that a record 286,146 contracts were posted for clearing on ClearPort, the exchange's clearing platform, on 29 September....
