Eurex traded 109.8m contracts in October, up 24% on last year. On average, 5.2m contracts were traded daily during the month. Notable highlights included the 56.3m contracts traded in its fixed income derivatives segment and the 23.6m contracts traded in its Euro Bund future. At over 1bn contracts, turnover volume for the first ten months had almost surpassed last year's total trading levels.

Euronext Liffe traded 57m futures and options contracts during the month, a 30% increase year-on-year. Trading in STIR contracts was up 50% on last year to 33m. Over 506m contracts have been traded year-to-date, up 6% on the same period last year, while average daily volume stood at 2.4m.

Liffe's white sugar contract set a new futures daily volume record of 19,667 contracts on 28 October, breaking the previous record of 19,045 contracts set on 30 August. Year-to-date volume in the product...
