CME scotches reports of June energy market entry


Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) officials moved to clarify news reports saying the exchange had slated a June launch for energy products that would see it enter the ongoing battle between New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

CME spokesperson Allan Schoenberg told FO Week, "We do not have an official launch date," countering an earlier Dow Jones report. Exchange officials have stated that CME would announce something more definitive about energies in the next month or so. CME has a non-compete agreement with Nymex due to end on 17 June.
