ICE Futures saw total monthly futures volume rise 101.8% to 5.8m contracts, compared to monthly volume of 2.87m in April 2005. Meanwhile, average daily volume increased by 123% year-on-year to 305,285 contracts, marking the fourth consecutive record for the exchange. On 30 April, total open interest in ICE Futures contracts stood at 960,222 compared to an open interest of 509,507 a year ago.
Eurex saw trading volumes in April increase 17% year-on-year to 122m contracts with average daily trading volume at 6.8m contracts, a new record. New single stock future monthly trading also achieved a record of 11.6m contracts traded. Equity-based derivatives was the strongest
segment during the month with a total of 63.2m contracts traded, an increase of approximately 16% on the previous year.
