Chicago Board Options Exchange reported that total trading volume on 17 May topped the 5m contract mark for the third time this year when 5.20m contracts changed hands, making it the third busiest day in its history.
Additionally, for the third time in less than a week, volume in options on the I-Shares Russell 2000 Index fund set a new record for single day trading with a total volume of 781,066 contracts. It broke the previous all-time records of 624,003 contracts, from 12 May, and 340,475 contracts from 11 May.
