Eurex experienced an all-time record month during May with total trading volume at 174m contracts, an 80% increase year-on-year.
The previous record was 149m contracts, set in March. Average daily trading volume at the exchange also set a new record of 7.9m contracts, with a new individual daily trading record of 11.94m contracts set on 18 May. New monthly volume records were set in futures and options on both the Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 and the DAX index.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange announced May volume averaged a record 5.4m contracts per day, up 34% from May 2005. Total monthly volume in May was 119m contracts. The exchange saw electronic trading volume on its Globex platform increase by 35% in the month over last year's figure, with a record 4m contracts trading per day. This represented 74% of total volume.
