India gets gas, warns on speculative activity


India's Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) launched its rupee-denominated natural gas contract on 10 July.

Although the exchange did not publish volume figures it did reveal that on the first day contracts with an underlying value of INR270m ($5.86m) changed hands.

However, local press reported concern being expressed by both government and exchange figures about the danger of speculative trading...
