CBOE to launch stock exchange


Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) has announced plans to launch its own stock exchange with four partner firms. following a similar recent annoucement by International Securities Exchange (ISE) (see FO Week Vol 11 No 7).

The new exchange, called CBOE Stock Exchange (CBSX) was expected to launch in 2007 and include active participation from its partner firms, Interactive Brokers (IB), LaBranche, Susquehanna and VDM.

CBOE was to own around 50% of CBSX while the partner firms would share the remainder.
