E-Speed has accused Trading Technologies (TT) of concocting settlement claims for firms that have been successfully sued for patent infringement during the case's first day's hearing in the Federal District Court for the Northeastern District of Illinois.
George Lombardi, E-Speed's attorney said, in response to TT's claim that it had sued 20 firms for patent infringement and that 14 have so far settled, that the "settlements were manufactured" by TT to bolster its patents.
The hearing started on 16 August and was expected to last three days. It was to help determine exactly how ironclad TT's patents are, as well as how far they reach in terms of their technology and function.
