Hamanaka charges raise more questions
Yasuo Hamanaka, former chief copper trader at Sumitomo Corporation, was arrested last week in Tokyo and charged with forging the signatures of two superiors. The allegations back up claims by Sumitomo that Hamanaka was a rogue trader who acted alone in racking up losses now estimated at $2.6bn, and concealing them from his bosses.
