CFTC election stalled by OTC oversight debate


The confirmation of a Presidential nominee for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) was blocked last week as questions were raised over her opinions on regulation of OTC energy markets.

Jill Sommers, former head of regulatory affairs at International Swaps and Derivatives Association (Isda) and formerly with Chicago Mercantile Exchange in governmental relations, had her confirmation blocked by California Senator, Dianne Feinstein. Feinstein said she would like more information from Sommers regarding her views on regulation of OTC energy markets.
