Average daily volume in March on Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) was a record 7.7m contracts per day, up 45% from March 2006. Volume on the CME Globex electronic trading platform increased 59% from March 2006 to average a record 5.8m contracts per day, representing 76 % of total exchange volume.  Total options volume was 1.5m contracts per day, up 31% from March 2006.  Electronic options volume averaged a record 174,000 contracts per day for the month, up 106 % from the same period a year ago, and represented 11% of total CME options volume.

Eurex traded 199m contracts in March. This was the strongest trading month ever at the exchange, an increase of approximately 34% compared with March 2006; the previous record trading month was May 2006 when 174m contracts were traded. On 14 March, Eurex set a new daily trading record with 15.4m contracts.
