Won't get fooled againWith 1 April falling on a Sunday this year, I was in the main denied one of my main pleasures of the financial year, namely spotting all the April Fools' jokes in the media. Back in the good old days, a good April Fools gag was one of the peaks of any journalist's career, and indeed the planning of such often filled in at least one of the boring months between the Christmas party season and the summer slowdown during which one might otherwise be forced to work. Of course nowadays the mood of seriousness that has poisoned financial markets extends to Fleet Street, so even when a spoof does make it into print it is generally so lame that nobody with an IQ over 30 would fall for it (unlike the time when we convinced my chum Chalky...
