Taiwan merger to halt market slide

The planned merger of Taiwan's two stock exchanges with Taiwan Futures Exchange (Taifex) appears to be an attempt to stop the country's financial markets falling further behind others in Asia. Obervers say restrictions on Taiwanese investments in mainland China will continue to restrict its growth despite the merger, however.
