New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) has promoted Sam Gaer to executive vice president. He will also continue to serve as chief information officer, a position he has held since 2003. Gaer joined Nymex in 2003 as chief information officer after the exchange purchased the assets of TradinGear.com, the systems developer that he founded in 1999. In 2004, Gaer was elected co-chairman of the global derivatives committee of FIX Protocol, a not-for-profit organisation which owns the intellectual property rights of FIX protocol. In February 2005, Gaer was appointed chief executive officer of Nymex Europe. He has been involved with the commodity futures industry...
