LSE looks to have beaten NYSE Euronext to Borsa Italiana deal

NYSE Euronext has refused to confirm that it made a rival bid for Borse Italiana following London Stock Exchange’s €1.6bn ($2.2bn) offer made 27 June. Speaking to FO Week, Amanda Sudworth, head of fixed income product development at the exchange’s derivatives arm, Liffe, declined to comment.The initial speculation follows confirmation from Euronext that the two exchanges were in primarily discussions over a possible tie-up (see FO Week 29/05/06), however LSE...
