New York Mercantile Exchange set daily volume records for its silver and platinum futures on the CME Globex electronic trading platform on 27 June. Silver futures reached 72,283 contracts, surpassing the 58,382 contracts traded on 27 April. Platinum futures traded 6,316 contracts, exceeding the 5,159 contracts traded on 25 June.

New York Board of Trade (Nybot) traded more than 5m contracts in June. As of 22 June, exchange-wide volume for the month of June reached 5.08m contracts. The previous monthly volume record was established in April with 4.89m contracts. In 2006, Nybot's average monthly volume was approximately 3.72m contracts.

During January and February, Bolsa de Mercadorias & Futuros was the second fastest growing exchange among derivatives exchanges, according to the Futures Industry Association trading
volume rankings. CME was top.
