Exchanges push into renewables

American exchanges are moving further into the renewable fuels sector as both US Futures Exchange (USFE) and New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) plan new contracts in a field that has yet to live up to its supposed potential.US Futures Exchange will list futures contracts based on wind indices, marking the exchange’s move into the alternative energy space with more contracts from the same sector likely to follow. The contracts will be based on the Nordix Financial Wind Indexes, created by Weather Bid, which measure deviations from average wind speeds used in wind power generation.
