Nymex melts ICE deal for Winnipeg

New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) has emerged as a contender for Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE), with an offer to pay $10m more than the original offer for the small Canadian market by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), sources said.The new $50m bid by an anonymous suitor had many in the industry guessing the identity. But sources familiar with the exchange say Nymex is the mystery outfit, although an exchange spokesperson declined to comment. Some have, however, suggested that it could be a ploy by the newly created CME Group to acquire Nymex.
