In life there are events that we seem to spend years waiting and hoping for, which, when they arrive, quickly outlive
their entertainment value and become tiresome. Christmas, where the novelty tends to wear off around about the third morning egg nog, is a prime example of the sort of thing Im talking about. A particularly troublesome bowel movement is another.
