Equity options set a new record of 17.34m contracts, a 5.7% increase over the previous record of 16.39m contracts set 27 February. Open interest stood at 290.17m contracts, also a new record.

Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) achieved a turnover of ¥55.1bn ($7.29bn), the highest in daily turnover this year on 12 July. It was also the second successive day that the DCE's daily turnover exceeded ¥50bn. The previous record this year was set on 27 June, when ¥49.2bn changed hands.

New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) will launch steel futures contracts based on an index provided by World Steel Dynamics. They will be traded and cleared through Clearport. The contracts will be rolled out in Q4 and will be cash settled. “For the industry it is better that it is launched on Clearport as way of weaning a community new to futures trading onto the contract,”...
