LME denies plastics drop, Nymex launch on the cards

London Metal Exchange (LME) has moved to deny speculation that it will put an end to its plastics contract in the same week that sources told FO Week New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) was looking to launch a similar product suite.

Volume and open interest has remained poor, and even dipped, in the two LME plastic futures – polypropylene (PP) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDP) – which were launched in May 2005. PP for the year so far...
