Eurex saw a 64% rise in volumes in August compared to the comparative period last year with 175.1m contracts traded. ADV was 7.6m contracts compared with 4.6m in August 2006. Drivers of growth were the segments equity index and fixed income derivatives. Open interest reached a new record at the end of August with more than 130 million contracts. Highlights included equity index derivatives growing by 126% to 79.3m contracts versus 35.1 million a year earlier. The Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 index future saw 36.7 million contracts trade compared to 15 million in August 2006. The exchange’s fixed income segment grew 35% to 67.6 million contracts versus 50 million twelve months earlier. The Euro Bund future also gained 35% reaching 28.1m contracts compared to 20.8m. The Eurex Schatz future saw 18.5m contracts trade representing a 60% growth. The Schatz option recorded further 2 million contracts....
