Lukken gets nod for CFTC chairman

Walt Lukken’s White House nomination for chairman of Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is being welcomed by the industry.Lukken, who got the nod while in Montreux at the Swiss Futures and Option Association’s 28th annual conference, has been serving as acting chairman since Reuben Jeffery stepped down from the top position in June (see FO Week 29/06/07). Lukken declined to comment on the nomination until after he is confirmed by Congress. Former colleagues said that Lukken brings a number of qualities to the position of chairman.
