Hang Seng fall tests exchanges staying power
Last Thrsday, as Hong Kong benchmark Hang Seng index dropped at one stage by 15% and ended the day 10% down in a week that had seen HK$34bn wiped from the value of shares, Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) and Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK) faced their biggest challenge since 1987 when the global stock market crash forced them to shut down.
