National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange will launch raw sugar futures.
The launch by the Indian exchange would increase global competition in the raw sugar market, where New York Board of Trade, Liffe and the Russian exchange RTS currently all list competing contracts.
Indias trading rules do not allow any foreign trading but these regulations are expected to change in the near future.
No launch data has yet been revealed.
"Some market participants are worried that these proposals will constrain liquidity and make it harder for firms to hedge themselves effectively with OTC derivatives."
