Ed Boyle took over the reins of NYSE Arca Options in October. In his new role, Boyle is making his first jump into the exchange space having previously served as vice president and director of equity derivatives at TD Securities and being a prominent fixture in the options arena. Boyle spoke with FO Week’s Jim Kharouf about why he switched from the brokerage side of the business to the exchange, as well as what is coming for NYSE Arca, its options linkage with NYSE Euronext and where the options market is going with penny listings.

Why did you decide to take this position at NYSE?

I’ve never worked on an exchange. But exchanges are run like businesses now and that’s why I thought it would be a great idea. NYSE is the largest securities exchange in the world and is going global with Euronext.
