Wait in the lobbyThere are times when I wonder whether I would have been better advised as a much younger man to get involved in the world of politics as opposed to high finance. I generally work on the assumption that 90% or more of the political classes get involved in that murky game solely in order to secure cushy directorships and consultancy contracts in the financial world after they retire without having to do any of the hard work, and while I admire that lateral thinking it looks a lot like a false economy to me. There are an awful lot fewer...
