Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) saw its European futures business post an exchange-wide daily volume record on 13 November. The new record of 858,604 futures and options contracts beat its last record of 847,892 set on 11 January. On the same day the exchange set its second highest ever daily volume in its WTI Crude futures with 358,112 changing hands.
New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) saw a new daily volume record for total crude oil futures traded on electronic and open outcry venues and crude oil futures traded on the CMEs Globex electronic trading platform. Total crude oil futures, via electronic and open outcry trading, reached 880,873 contracts, surpassing the 800,731 contracts traded on 11 January. Electronically traded crude oil futures totaled 751,429 contracts, exceeding the 702,578 contracts traded on 7 November.
