The outlook for the successful listing of credit derivatives on exchanges remains bleak for the foreseeable future, according to the market it is targeting.
In a straw poll conducted by FO Week, market participants believe there is no desire to begin trading credit derivatives on exchange and away from the traditional arena of the OTC environment. The reluctance of firms to trade exchange-listed credit derivatives has been exasperated by the market conditions that have gripped the global markets.
At present credit derivatives are listed on Eurex and CME Group with Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and Euronext Liffe gearing up for imminent launches.
